Marine Department Introduces New Measures for Visiting Yachts

Hong Kong’s Marine Department has introduced three new measures for visiting yachts from elsewhere in the Greater Bay Area.

These include upgrading the electronic business system (eBS), enabling yachts visiting Hong Kong to submit their arrival details to the authorities and pay the relevant fees online without requiring a local agent.

The Department has also relaxed berthing requirements for visiting yachts, permitting them to moor at Stanley Bay, Tai Tam Bay, Repulse Bay, Three Fathoms Cove in Sai Kung, and Tai O.

Finally, the Department has authorised the mainland to conduct examinations on local knowledge of Hong Kong waters, approving seven mainland training institutions to provide accredited training courses. Mainland skippers coming to Hong Kong can thereby obtain the qualification to navigate freely in Hong Kong waters in advance.

Coming into effect on June 29, these measures will simplify and streamline the process for yachts from Macao and the mainland to visit Hong Kong, “helping Hong Kong develop into Asia's yachting hub.”
